:: Karabashmed ZAO Plant Achieves Production Record

Ausmelt Limited is pleased to announce a record production performance of the Ausmelt TSL copper plant in Russia and congratulates Karabashmed ZAO on the achievement of 500,000 tonnes of copper production since the foundation of the company in 1989.

Karabashmed ZAO is a subsidiary of the Russian Copper Company ZAO, which is one of the leading copper producing companies in Russia. In 2006, a single Ausmelt TSL furnace was started up at the smelter to replace three existing blast furnaces. In 2009, the plant produced over 60,000 tonnes of copper, or more than 20% above design capacity. The plant has also been awarded a number of environmental awards in recognition of the resultant improvement in the environmental performance.

Karabashmed ZAO General Director, Mr Alexander Golov said that Karabashmed ZAO is pleased to have achieved this important milestone for the company.
