:: Outokumpu's Flash Smelting Technology for KGHM Copper Plant in Poland Outokumpu Technology has signed a contract with the Polish copper producer KGHM for the basic engineering and license for a new Direct-to-Blister Copper plant to be built in Glogów, Poland. Outokumpu Technology will provide basic engineering for the new Direct-to-Blister smelting line, which will have the capacity of 350,000 tonnes of blister copper per year. The basic engineering work will be completed in December 2005. The Direct-to-Blister process is based on Outokumpu's Flash Smelting technology. It is the only proven Direct-to-Blister copper technology, which offers efficient simplified operation and excellent environmental performance. Outokumpu Technology and KGHM enjoy a long and well-established relationship, which began already in the 1970's when Outokumpu supplied the Flash Smelter producing blister copper for the Glogów plant. Later Outokumpu Technology has supplied various other technologies for KGHM's metals processing plants at both its Glogów and Legnica plants.
