:: Outokumpu's Technology for Jiangxi's Copper Plant in China

Outokumpu Technology has won already a second significant copper plant project in China this year. The company agreed with Jiangxi Copper Company, the largest producer of cathode copper in China, to deliver smelting and refining technology for the Guixi copper plant expansion. The contract value exceeds EUR 20 million.

Outokumpu Technology's scope of supply includes license, basic engineering and proprietary equipment for a new Outokumpu Flash Smelting process line, a TM18 anode casting shop and the machinery for a new electrolytic refinery. Outokumpu's deliveries are scheduled for the year 2006 and the commissioning of the plant for May 2007.

The new flash smelting line will have an initial capacity of 200,000 tonnes copper per year and it can later on be expanded up to 300,000 tonnes. It will increase the Guixi plant's annual total copper producing capacity from 400,000 tonnes to 700,000 tonnes.

Outokumpu Technology has also delivered the existing smelting and refining technology at the Guixi copper plant in1985. Jiangxi Copper Company valued in their expansion project a well-known partner and reliable technology.
