:: Lihir Gold Five Years On  

The Lihir Gold deposit is located within the collapsed caldera of an ancient volcano on the Eastern side of Lihir Island, in Papua New Guinea. Since the Lihir processing plant was commissioned in 1997 the management has had in place a programme to improve operations and economics of the Lihir project.
