:: Outokumpu Technology Wins Contract for the Fourth Iron Ore Sinter Plant of TISCO Outokumpu Technology signed a contract with Tata Iron and Steel Co. (TISCO) in India in July 2005 for the delivery of an iron ore sinter plant. This is already the fourth sinter plant contract that Outokumpu Technology has bagged in India since 2003, and it is also TISCO's fourth sinter plant at their Jamshedpur steel works based on Outokumpu's travelling grate technology. TISCO's first three sinter plants were built in 1957, 1986 and 2004 respectively. The order follows the recent successful commissioning of TISCO's third sinter plant, which was erected in a record time period of 18 months. Outokumpu Technology's scope covers basic engineering, supply of proprietary and special equipment as well as technical services. The new sinter plant, with the annual capacity of 2.3 million tonnes, will be part of TISCO's recently initiated 2 million tpa expansion program for the Jamshedpur steel works and it is expected to be on-stream by June 2007.
