:: Mercury Processing and Recovery Bethlehem Apparatus is continually developing new systems and specialised mercury processing equipment to meet clients' needs. One such system was developed in response to a need in the mining industry for a cost-effective method of disposing of calomel, a mercury-bearing byproduct generated from pollution control equipment using the Norzink process. After consultation with Universal Dynamics of Vancouver, Canada, Bethlehem developed and built a proprietary calomel processing system. Calomel is converted into mercury/mercuric oxide and subsequently retorted into elemental mercury. The chlorine removed is then disposed of as a non hazardous salt water. The mercury recovered is quadruple distilled and sold to industrial users.
