:: Mintek Accredited for PGM Assay Methods

Mintek's Analytical Services Division has been granted accreditation by SANAS (South African National Accreditation Service) for three assaying methods for the platinum-group metals:

• Fire assay with nickel sulphide as the collector and individual determination of 6E (Pt, Pd, Ru, Rh, Ir and Au) and 7E (6E plus Os) by ICP.
• Fire assay with lead collection and individual determination of
• 4E (Pt, Pd, Rh and Au) and
• 3E (Pt, Pd and Au) by ICP.

Mintek has been already accredited for a number of years for determination of gold and of the total noble metals (PGMs + Au) by lead collection and gravimetric measurement.

With the increased level of PGM exploration in South Africa and elsewhere, and the number of planned new projects and expansions, Mintek's Analytical Services is undertaking an increased amount of PGM assay work.
