The event was opened by Conference Convenor, Alan Taylor, Metallurgical Consultant/Managing Director, ALTA Metallurgical Services.

It was very well-attended with 243 attendees from 26 countries, a 20% increase on 2016 attendance. We were excited to meet 109 new people attending for the first time. It is also always a pleasure to welcome our previous attendees and we thank all participants for contributing to the success of the event.
