:: Hindustan Zinc Expansion Nears Completion The 1.25 million t/yr zinc concentrator expansion of Hindustan Zinc Limited’s zinc and lead beneficiation plant at Rampur Agucha Mines Bilwara, in Rajasthan State, India is at an advanced stage of completion. The detailed engineering and equipment supply phases are complete and site construction and erection work is in full swing on this lump-sum turnkey (LSTK) contract which was awarded to Bateman Engineering in 2006. A labour force of approximately 1,500 is currently on site, with pre-assembly of mechanical equipment being carried out in the lay-down area while the civil and structural work is being completed. The expansion involves procurement and commissioning of new equipment to be installed adjacent to the existing plant and will increase the processing capacity to about 4.75 million t/yr of ore. The approximately USD35 million contract is the first major contract to have been awarded to Bateman Engineering in India, and followed the opening of the Group’s Bateman India division in Bangalore, India in 2006. Part of the Vedanta Group, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) is India’s only integrated zinc company, operating from mine to finished metal. It is a leading producer of refined zinc and lead in India.
