:: Wida Enters Diamond Recovery Market US-based Wida Ltd specialises in the design and manufacturing of diamond recovery machines. Wida has three models in its range: the ASP (sorting size fractions +1 to -32 mm); the KsM (sorting size fractions +1 to -19 mm); and the KsG (sorting size fractions +19 to-32 mm). According to Johan Du Plessis, president of Wida, the key to the company's technology is the composition and integration of the electronics, air ejection system, software and optics that are used. The company says that the design of the ASP, KsM and KsG reduces the amount of waste in the final recovery process and increases the throughput. Wida says that some of the most important features of its recovery units include: an air ejection system that does not break/damage diamonds; the recovery of low luminescent diamonds; high throughput; a waste factor of less than 3%; 99% recovery; low maintenance (no moving parts used); dry/wet process used during sorting activities; and a hands-off operation which minimises loss of diamonds. The first machine, an ASP model, will be delivered in mid-November to Endiama's Chitotolo mine in Angola.
