This, the 1^st International Symposium on Processing & Disposal of Mineral Industry Wastes (PDMIW '03) dealt with all aspects of the processing and disposal of wastes in the minerals industry. The event was being organised by MEI in collaboration with Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands, and the Camborne School of Mines, UK.
