This, the 2nd International Symposium on Precious Metals (Precious Metals 07), was organised by Minerals Engineering International in consultation with Dr Mike Adams. Sponsors of this event were Diemme Filtration, the Gold & Minerals Gazette & The Bullion Desk.

Precious Metals 07 dealt with all aspects of the processing of gold, silver and PGM ores, such as flotation, bio and hydrometallurgy.

Organisers

The conference was organized by Minerals Engineering International (MEI) in consultation with Dr Mike Adams.

Mike Adams is Consulting Metallurgist and Director of Mutis Liber Pty Ltd and assists the resource sector with process, flowsheet and testwork design and management, plant assessment and simulation modelling.

Mike completed BSc (hons), MSc and PhD degrees at Wits University, and subsequently held technical leadership roles at Mintek in South Africa and SGS Lakefield Oretest in Perth.

Over the last 23 years he has published about 50 papers, many concerning gold processing and has edited two books, the latest being Advances in Gold Ore Processing, published by Elsevier in late 2005.

Mike has been awarded Fellow status by the Australian and the South African Institutes of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Raikes gold medal by the South African Chemical Institute.

Mike Adams

He has project managed several integrated pilot-plant campaigns for definitive feasibility studies on the processing of nickel laterites and sulfides and has consulted widely in the area of gold, platinum group and rare metals extractive metallurgy.
